North Star provides NDT testing equipment, services and training to a wide variety of industries including the automotive, aerospace, defense/ordnance, medical device and manufacturing industries. No testing challenge is too small or too large for our attention: We have built state-of-the art equipment to test the integrity of everything from heart valves and pacemakers to aircraft wings. For example, a fully programmable scan plan for aircraft wings allows for the inspection of initial work, repair, review and documentation of trouble spots − on nine axis of inspection.

Design. Build. Test.

We design and build customized testing equipment for X-ray imaging, computer tomography, computer radiography, remote visual testing, Eddy current, black lights, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonics, hardness testing, coating thickness, material analysis, machine vision/analysis, and high-speed imaging.  All imaging is done in real-time and data can be stored within the equipment at mega-pixel resolution. Our 3-D imaging can scan 360 degrees to capture dimensional data in CAD.  Even North Star’s X-ray imaging provides a 3-D feel, because it can rotate in real time and slice for dimensional data, revealing flaws left by artifacts in castings.

Service 

North Star also builds, installs and provides routine repairs, calibrations, certifications, installations and warranty work on virtually all NDT products, including ultrasonic equipment, X-ray film processors, densitometers, blacklights, UV and white meters.  We support all of the products we sell in the North American market and our full-time service technicians perform preventive maintenance and calibration for customer’s equipment onsite.   North Star also offers upgrade services to modify analog-based testing equipment to digital formats.
